Nancy Kozikowski will give a special lecture on the exhibition and her work on July 13 at noon.

Albuquerque native Nancy Kozikowski and Lin Le Cheng, head of the art department Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, will have a fine art exhibition and lecture to be held in Clayton.

For the past 16 years Kozikowski has worked with Lin on eight “From Lausanne to Beijing” international biennial exhibitions through the Academy of Art and Design at China’s Tsinghua University, where Lin is a professor and arts administrator.

The exhibition is now the world’s largest fiber arts exhibition and draws submissions from hundreds of artists all over the globe. This is a rare opportunity for upstate New York to host these prominant weavers in Clayton, New York.

1999 while organizing the Thread of New Mexico exhibition at the Albuquerque Museum, featuring 30 New Mexico weavers, Nancy was introduced to Professor Lin. Lin invited Nancy and the Thread of New Mexico artists to Beijing to participate in the 1st Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennial held in 2000.

Nancy received a McCune Foundation grant to take Native Americans Sarah Natani, her daughter TahNibaa Naataanii, Teresa Archuleta and the weavings of 18 other New Mexico weavers to the 1st Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennial.

Since then Nancy participated in and has been a juror for the subsequent Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennials.

At the 7th Biennial in 2012, Tsinghua University and Lin gave Nancy a solo exhibition in Nantong, China at the 1895 Art Industry Center, the site of the first textile factory in China and birthplace of their industrial revolution.

Last spring Nancy and Lin had a series of 2 person exhibitions in Manchuria at the Jilin Academy of Fine Art in Changchun, China, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang China, and Shenyang University.

Lin Le Cheng is a Professor and PhD Supervisor, Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University. He is the Director of the Institute of Fiber Art, China National Academy of Painting. He is the creator of “From Lausanne to Beijing” International Fiber Art Biennale. He is the Chairman of the Committee of Fiber Art, China Arts and Crafts Association. In 2014, he was the leading researcher of the China National Arts Fund Projects, “From Lausanne to Beijing-9th International Fiber Art Biennale”
