the bees portrayed in this tapestry are from are from a piece of pottery made by a Membres Indian potter. The Membres people disappeared from New Mexico 1000 years ago leaving 10,000 pots with amazingly sophisticated abstract designs. The background and color of "bees" are inspired by African Kuba cloth. Kuba cloth has had a tremendous influence on modern artists like Picasso, Paul Klee, Mattise and AR Penk.
