JOPLIN, Mo. There are three new reasons to visit a popular four state park.

Three new bronze statues by renowned sculptor Angela Mia De la Vega have been added to Rotary Sculpture Garden in Joplin’s Mercy Park. Sculpture Board Chairman Bob Headlee says COVID-19 has caused the project to be about a year and a half behind schedule, but as far as the new additions, he says better late than never.

The National Sculpture Society announced that Angela is winner of the People’s Choice Award 2021 for Bridge of Brotherhood. The premier annual exhibition of American figurative sculpture was held recently at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, SC. At the same time she was elected Fellow, the highest level of achievement in National Sculpture Society. NSS Fellows are famously nominated by their peers for advancement.
